The Unione Montana Alta Valle di Susa participated with a stand dedicated to fly fishing at the Pescare Show fair in Rimini, which took place from 7 to 9 February. The national fair in Rimini was an important event for the world of sport fishing, with the presence of experts and enthusiasts of all ages. The councilor of the Union and Oulx, Thomas Martin, declared: “With the delegation of Turismo Torino e Provincia as Unione Montana Alta Val Susa we promoted summer in our territory. The thousands of visitors demonstrate how fishing is, and must be, a tourist market in which to invest if we want to create an eco-sustainable, culturally modern tourist offer aimed at deseasonalizing the presence of visitors”.
The fishing project in Valsusa is part of a broader effort by the area to develop alternatives to the traditional practice of skiing, with the aim of making the Alta Valsusa more attractive for tourism. In this context, fly fishing, together with cycling, climbing and other outdoor activities, represents an important opportunity for local accommodation facilities.
“As a Union we want to be protagonists of this proposal which could have an impact on the quality of the environment and the consequences in terms of tourism enhancement”, explained the president of the Union Mauro Carena. “Currently there are two tourisms in the mountains: one industrial and mass, the other based on gentle and integrated practices. On the one hand we continue to force ourselves as if the climate and environmental priorities had not changed, on the other we try instead to adapt, slow down, welcome aware visitors, operate with new perspectives. In this spirit, the commitment of Councilor Martin and the Union is excellent.”
The participation of the Unione Montana Alta Valle di Susa in the Pescare Show in Rimini represents an important showcase for promoting the area and its tourism potential, with a particular focus on fly fishing as a resource for sustainable and quality development.
