On the occasion of the 531st Fiera Franca dell’Escarton in Oulx, on Saturday 4 October 2025, the 14th Day of Historical Linguistic Minorities of Occitan, Franco-Provençal and French will be held in the Auditorium of the Istituto Superiore Des Ambrois. This is a consolidated experience, organized by the Chambra d’Òc Association, promoted by the Piedmont Region, the Metropolitan City of Turin, the Municipality of Oulx, the Management Body of the Protected Areas of the Cottian Alps and the IISS Des Ambrois.
The day serves as a showcase for the work undertaken, a privileged moment for the sound of languages; an opportunity to reflect on the past edition of Chantar l’uvèrn and to present the new 17th edition, 2026.
Minority Day will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Des Ambrois Auditorium, with a special event reserved for students from selected high school classes, while the cultural afternoon will be open to all.
At 4:00 p.m., the Oulx municipal administration and the authorities present will launch the cultural program on minority languages.
Significant work is being done in translating classical texts, and this effort demonstrates how, over the years, the Occitan and Franco-Provençal languages have evolved from pastoral oral languages to written languages capable of expressing high-quality literary concepts. For this reason, a literary-musical reading format has been created called L’INTRECCIO – LA TREÇA in Occitan – L’ANTERSAN in Franco-Provençal – LA TRESSE in French. The format will feature readings from famous literary texts intertwined in Occitan, Franco-Provençal, and French, which will be complemented by musical tributes. The working group of translators and musicians from the Metropolitan City of Turin-Chambra d’Oc will present a program of readings and music, followed by presentations of educational games and workshops. At 8:30 pm, the traditional concert and dance with the PÉIRO DOUSO group from the Chisone and Germanasca Valleys will take place:
