In front of the railway station it begins the tree lined street that takes to the city centre. The railway station has been built in the second half of the 19th century and from 1871,when the railway line and the Frejus tunnel were opening, lots of trains to France, Turin,Milan pass here. Near by the railway station square there were the most important hotels of the town, nowadays replaced by modern residences and B&B. Following the street after Saint Joseph congregation building, on the right side there is the blind alley called San Giusto that goes to the Abadia. Here was founded the powerful Saint Lawrence Church, official recognized with the papal bull of 1065. Abolished on 1748, for years Salesian Congregation took care of it. Some historical buildings remained : the tower bell of the Saint Peter Church, the house of the priest, a granited cross, an arcade with an heraldic shield and the tower of the house of Richelmy. Following corso Montenero to the city centre you will cross the bridge ’”Ange Gardien” on the Dora Riparia. On the other side of the river you will find the area called “Plan”.Today this part of the town is the administrative and commercial centre. Following Via Faure Rolland, just at the corner with via Roma, on the left side there is House Ambrosiani. This palace has been the house of a lot of illustrated people : as Jean Arlaud–Captain La Cazette commander of the catholic troops during the religion wars between Catholics and Waldenses who was murdered here in 1590 , Des Ambrois family, King of France Louis XIII, Richelieu Cardinal and the Duque of Orleans, this building of the 16th century was one of the most beautiful houses of the village. Following via Roma on the left side there is the Arcade Fountain situated where an arcade was positioned at the entrance of the town. Walking along via Roma you can admire some ancient houses : on the left side there is House Prat where it was born Des Ambrois mother Marie Therese Prat in 1787. In the Dorato Guido square there was a 16th century fountain nowadays replaced in Piazza Garambois. This part of the town is called la Poià. Getting up on the left along via Vittorio Emanuele, on the right side the municipality has dedicated a memorial plaque to General Bes, that lived in this house, further on the Saint Roch Church on the right side is dating back of 19th century and recently has been restorated. Getting on via Des Ambrois,on the right side there is House Gally, once House Bonnet, classified as one of the oldest buildings of Oulx. Just after it there is House Des Ambrois.The palace and its historical finds are preserved in a very good state: between them the portraits of the members of the family dating back of the 16th century , a roman milestone found during the Frejus railway line construction a portrait of La Cazette: The house after is House Bermond , composed by a beautiful 17th century two floor palace facing on Des Ambrois street ,by a wide inner court closed on each side and a nice garden facing the Dolphinal tower. Following the lane you will find the Dolphinal Tower and getting up the walk, the Church of the Saint Mary of the Assomption
