The Amis du Mont Cenis are an association founded in 1969 by the will of mountain enthusiasts and workers at the Mont Cenis Dam with the aim of promoting economically and culturally the Mont Cenis plateau. Founders of the Alpine Garden of the Plan des Fontainettes in 1971-to preserve the rich nature of the plateau undamaged by the construction of the last dam – (the Alpine Garden is currently under management of the municipality of Val Cenis Vanoise)- they own a Cultural fund preserved at the Savoisien Museum in Chambery and composed of volumes dedicated to the Mont Cenis, treatises, documents and certificates collected over the years by these enthusiasts.
Since 1971 they manage the Historical Hall of the Pyramid, currently the museum of the Pyramid totally renovated in 2008 and equipped with audio visual elements and multilingual audio guides, organize exhibitions cultural events and continue in the cultural promotion of the place with international collaborations: the last among these the preparation of a bookcrossing of the “Clouds” inside the church of the Pyramid in the summer of 2019 with the agreements of the “Biblioteche delle Nuvole “ of the Pinerolo Library System.
The pandemic has stopped a bit the activities of the association that has had to reinvent itself and promote itself through digital channels: for winter 2021 at the Oulx Tourism Office it will be possible to access the publications normally on sale at the Pyramid Museum thanks to an agreement signed in October of the current year, and in summer 2022 it will be possible to find the publications of Oulx at the Pyramid Museum.
